[Maps & Atlases] (de Fer, Nicholas). Carte de la Nouvelle France, ou se voit le cours des Grands Rivieres de S. Laurens & de Mississipi aujour d'hui S. Louis, Aux Environs...
(Paris, ca. 1720). Hand-colored engraved map of French possessions in North America, with wildlife and Indian motifs, as well as a small plan and view of Quebec at bottom right. 16 1/2 x 19 1/4 in. (419 x 489 mm). In mat and unexamined out of frame, 23 x 26 in. (584 x 660 mm).
This map was derived from Nicholas de Fer's larger four-sheet map of 1718, and was issued to promote the recently established Compagnie Francoise Occident. This smaller version, with no engraver's imprint, was subsequently published in a few different Dutch composite atlases.
